The Bloods and the Crips are rival gangs in the United States, who have been engaged in a “blood feud” since the 1960s.

The Crips is an LA-based gang that was founded in 1969 by Raymond Washington and Stanley Williams.
The two created the gang when they were in school together. They had both been expelled from school because of truancy. After they were kicked out of school, they decided to join forces and create their own fraternity, something that would offer them protection against the dangers of the streets. The goal of the organization was to protect themselves against other gangs in LA, most notably the Bloods, who had just begun to establish themselves at this time. 2. Bloods and Crips: L.A. Gangs The Rise of Two Street Gangs
In the late 1800s, Los Angeles was a small town in Southern California. It had a population of less than 10,000 people and there were no street gangs or any major crime. By the early 1900s however, the city's population exploded to over 100 times its original size with immigrants from all around America coming in droves looking for work on one of Los Angelas' many farms and factories. The new arrivals brought their own culture with them which clashed heavily with that already present in LA at this time - namely Anglo-Protestantism (the dominant religion). This clash led to tension between groups who didn't mix well together such as whites and Mexicans/Chicanos; Protestants and Catholics; blacks and whites etcetera) All these different cultures came into contact through various social institutions including schools where they would interact socially for hours each day but never actually learn about anything else other than what made up their own cultural identity because teachers focused only on teaching children about themselves instead of how others might be like too (e.g., if you're white then your teacher will teach you more about Irish history rather than African American History). 4. Inside a Gang Initiation with the Silent Murder Crips
JT is a young prospect who's trying to gain access to the Crips in Brooklyn. It was about two things: getting close with a group of men that care about him and will back him up if he ends up in trouble, and it was also initiation; we followed JT through the process of becoming made. We wanted to understand what attracted him and why he would go on suffering beatings from his best friends for this gang.
