Would you like to getpaid to learn new career skills?IBEW Apprenticeships offer qualified individuals the opportunity to “Earn-While-They-Learn” by balancing classroom education with hands-on training on the job site.

Apprentices get paid Week One and accrue both wages and benefits.Tuition is subsidized by the industry partnership between labor and management. There may be a nominal fee for books, work clothing and tuition which vary by market.

Like a full-ride scholarship, IBEW Apprenticeship education is paid for by the Labor/Management relationship between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the National Electrical Contractors Association.

Apprentices graduate debt-free.

All IBEW Local Unions offer apprenticeships. Training is provided at Electrical Industry Training Centers located throughout Michigan.The apprenticeship curriculum is developed at national and local levels and taught by certified, experienced instructors.

Hands-On Learning + On-The-Job Training

Quite simply, an IBEW Apprenticeship means you begin earning and learning right away. Once accepted into the program, your education is a combination of classroom and on-the-job experience. Full time job experience + classroom education = Long Term Career Success.

Job Placement + Graduate Debt Free

Job placement begins at the start of the electrical apprenticeship. IBEW partners with signatory electrical contractors represented by NECA throughout Michigan who hire our apprentices and journeymen exclusively.

Journeymen Inside Wireman

Journeymen Inside Wiremen build the landmarks, arenas, office buildings, retail stores, malls, airports, iconic buildings and a variety of other commercial and industrial facilities across the State.

The 5-year Inside Wiremen apprenticeship provides a variety of hands-on exposure and technical classroom instruction to prepare for a wide array of electrical work in the construction field.

In addition to on-the-job experiences, apprentices are required to do homework lessons online, and attend classes at an Electrical Industry Training Center as determined by the local training center.

Apprentices must have internet access and a computer available in order to complete classroom assignments. The Apprentice will be employed by a signatory contractor doing electrical construction work. Transportation to the training center for classes and to the job site for work is the responsibility of the Apprentice.

The apprentice will be paid a percentage of the journeyman wage rate and will receive periodic wage increases as they meet the program requirements.

Sound, Communication & Data Management Installer/Technician

The world runs on information and technology and Sound, Communication & Data Management Installer-Technicians provide the skilled support needed to install, maintain, troubleshoot and expand those critical systems.

This 3-year apprenticeship explores critical systems like data management, data storage and integration, building security, life safety and much more.

In addition to on-the-job experiences, apprentices are required to do homework lessons online, and attend classes at an Electrical Industry Training Center for related hands-on training.

Apprentices must have internet access and a computer available in order to complete the homework lessons prior to class. The Apprentice will be employed by a signatory contractor doing electrical construction work. Transportation to the training center for classes and to the job site for work is the responsibility of the Apprentice.

Residential Wireman

Technology and electricity drive the home, condo or multi-unit apartment complex in increasingly complex and integrated systems.

The 3-year Residential apprenticeship provides a foundation of electrical knowledge to complete the safe and efficient installation of intricate wiring, communications and security systems for all types of residential properties.

Comprehensive training with a commitment to quality, safety and adherence to established building codes for the Residential market, insure that dwellings are as safe for families and tenants.

In addition to on-the-job experiences, apprentices are required to do homework lessons online, and attend classes at an Electrical Industry Training Center for related hands-on training.

To apply for the IBEW Apprenticeship, you must be 17 years of age and have acquired either your high school diploma or GED. Applicants must also have one year of high school Algebra or equivalent and provide official transcripts from the educational facility where the coursework was completed. Drug screening and a physical exam is also part of the process prior to being accepted in to the program.
