If you are looking to invest in an LED mask, beauty writer Tiffany Lo has compiled a list of tried-and-tested options that are reduced in the Black Friday sales
Black Friday is here and shoppers might have spotted retailers dropping discounts on advanced skincare. Now is the perfect time to invest in the latest beauty tech products, such as LED face masks.
As a beauty journalist with a huge interest in anti-ageing, I have tested a range of LED masks and talked to experts to find out what makes their beauty device unique and more importantly, if it actually works. I have shortlisted some of the best, in my opinion, for people who look to improve different skin concerns.
From my list, BondiBody’s LED mask offers the biggest saving while shoppers can get a second LED mask for the neck and décolletage in CurrentBody’s Black Friday bundle. Keep scrolling to discover which of these collagen-boosting, skin-smoothing tech items are best for you.

CurrentBody LED Mask
This LED Mask went viral everywhere - thanks to hit Netflix show Emily in Paris. The original, or Series 1, as the brand called it, has a cult following with celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Halle Berry opting for this face tool ahead of red carpet moments. With 132 LED light bulbs emitting red and near-infrared wavelengths, this face-hugging silicone mask claims to boost collagen levels, improve skin tone, texture and firmness after four weeks of continuous use.
Each treatment takes only 10 minutes, and I prefer to use it on clean face with serum in the morning or evening. When the mask is turned on, the glaring lights can be slightly off-putting but once it's secured with the adjustable Velcro strap, you are good to go.
On my first trial, I put a vitamin C sheet mask under the LED mask. The optional "comfort goggles" didn't fit me and were pressing against my skin, leaving a red mark around my eyes and I found it better to not use them. Did my skin get brighter? Yes, the LED mask and the vitamin C-infused sheet mask lifted the dullness from my complexion and gave me a glow, particularly around my forehead and cheeks.
CurrentBody recently upgraded the mask and launched a Series 2 that also takes care of the chin and jaw area. While the Series 1 LED Mask remains at £299, you can save money in a bundle. The Special LED Kit gives you a Series 1 LED mask, a 30ml CurrentBody Skin Green Tea Serum and a pack of 5 CurrentBody Skin Hydrogel Face Mask - at £359 instead of £379.
Alternatively the offers nearly £60 saving and you can get the Series 1 LED mask and a Neck LED mask at £510 instead of £568.
BondiBody LED Mask
Interested in red light therapy but not ready to break the bank? BondiBody's LED mask is great value and beauty fans now have the chance to get it for £109. Despite having a similar design to CurrentBody, it offers four light settings to cater to different skin concerns.
I found the red and blue settings best for tackling my scarred and textured skin. It's a great treatment to tackle acne and whiteheads - it cleared the irritations in roughly two to three treatments. It also calmed my skin and makes serums and creams better absorbed afterwards.
The BondiBody mask comes is paired with a remote control with a timer display and light selection - which gives you an idea of how long to use it.
But some users found it long time to charge up as one said: "It takes two hours to charge it for a 10-minute daily treatment."
TheraFace LED Mask
Launched by wellness brand Therabody, the shield-like TheraFace LED Mask gives a sturdy fit when you wear it. It doesn't slide off easily but is definitely heavier than the ear-loop style face mask. Priced at a premium £549, the Black Friday sale sees the anti-ageing mask reduced to £499.
What makes the TheraFace LED Mask special? Other than the red, infredred and blue light options, you can enjoy facial massage thanks to the 17 proprietary QX-Micro Motors that vibrates to key pressure points on the face and scalp. When I tried it on, it's like having personal massage therapy by a masseuse. It's a great way to de-stress and I found it really helpful after a long day of staring at screens.
I haven't seen this feature in any other LED mask, which is a big bonus but with the shield-like design, it can be slightly uncomfortable.
Shark CryoGlow LED Mask
SharkBeauty's CryoGlow LED Mask has stirred a buzz in the beauty world and I was excited to try it as the cold therapy session targets under-eye concerns like puffiness and wrinkles. As it's a new launch, there's no Black Friday discount on the CryoGlow mask but if you buy it at Boots, you can collect 4,087 Advantage Card points which converts to £40.87 redeemable cash.
During the pandemic, one of the facial features I became conscious of was my under-eye bags and I was not happy when I woke up one day to see "sagging crescents". The Under-eye Cooling mode can be used alone or with other modes, it's a 5-10 minute cold therapy sesstion powered by InstaChill Cold Technology to firm and tighten under-eyes.
My impression of using the CryoGlow has been positive - it has a thick, adjustable elastic band for an easy fit and once it's secured, it doesn't slip off like other masks with ear loops. The LED lights are not as glaring as I thought they would be and with the palm-sized remote control, you get a step-by-step guide with a timer display.
If you haven't tried cryotherapy before, brace yourself and make sure you set the under-eyes cooling to the lowest setting. The temperature on the cold plates can drop to 16°C and your skin may feel hot, but that's a normal sign as the controlled cold burn works by restricting blood vessels.
